Cinematography:

Life of Pi is the loveliest to look at.

Editing:

Definitely the thrilling pacing and location-jumping of Argo.

Production Design:

Ehhh…maybe the 18th century French replicas in Les Mis?

Costume Design:

The froufiest and fanciest always win, so the riches of Anna Karenina will best the rags in Les Mis.

Score:

The globally inspired tones of Pi.

Sound Editing = biggest action hit = Skyfall.

Sound Mixing:

Les Mis, because blending the live and pre-recorded vocals is among the most difficult feats of sound design.

Visual Effects:

If you can make a CGI tiger that can move audiences to tears, you win without question.  More for Pi.

Makeup and Hairstyling:

I think the fantasy creatures in The Hobbit will beat out the everyone-streaked-with-dirt aesthetic in Les Mis.

Song:

They’re doing a 50th anniversary tribute to the Bond franchise on the telecast, and everyone loves Adele, so Skyfall all the way.

Animated Feature:

Brave, because I won’t bet against Pixar.

Documentary Feature:

My guess is the DGA selection, Searching for Sugar Man

Foreign Language Film:

Amour, unless this category flakes out again.
